Assim como todos os eventos mundiais, o Billboard Music Awards 2020 também foi adiado devido a Pandemia de COVID-19. Uma das maiores premiações de música do mundo, o evento acontece essa noite (14/10 - 21h no horário de Brasília) e conta com a rainha Kelly Clarkson como anfitriã pelo terceiro ano consecutivo.
A Billboard possui 4 charts semanais de música e o famoso Top Social semanal. Os charts possuem reconhecimento mundial, considerando os streams da música nas plataformas digitais, as vendas digitais e físicas e a popularidade nas rádios, e entrar em qualquer um deles é um marco na carreira de um artista. O que possui mais reconhecimento é o Hot 100 - as 100 músicas mais populares dos EUA -, os outros são o Hot 200 - os 200 álbuns mais populares dos EUA - o Global 200 - as 200 músicas mais populares no mundo - e o Global 200 excl. U.S. - as 200 músicas mais populares do mundo excluindo os Estados Unidos.
O Top Social é uma classificação de popularidade dos artistas, ele considera as menções e os RTs no Twitter, ou seja, ele conta cada vez que o artista for marcado ou algum post seu foi compartilhado na rede social, e uma vez por semana faz um ranking com os 10 mais populares, atualmente o recorde é do grupo sul-coreano BTS com 200 semanas no primeiro lugar.
O evento dessa noite promete contar com performances incríveis de diversos artistas como o rapper Ty Dolar Sign, a rainha Doja Cat e o grupo feminino completando 30 anos de carreira En Vogue. A premiação será transmitida nos EUA pela NBC e no Brasil pela TNT.
